What Causes A Muffin Top?

A muffin top is that unsightly bulge of excess fat which hangs over a person's trousers, just like the top of a muffin hangs over its casing.

"Muffin top" is yet another of society's buzzwords for an unnatractive body part, so it follows that there are many people out there looking for way to shift their excess fat and never have to worry about being branded with this term again.

In order to get rid of your muffin top, however, you first need to understand what causes it in the first place.

Luckily, this is the easy part.

A muffin top can be the result of only FOUR things, although it is important to point out that it is common for it to come from a combination of these causes, and that each one must be tackled to see results in this case.

So what causes a muffin top?
  1. Badly Fitting Clothing
Even skinny people can suffer with the muffin top, as trousers which are too tight, too low or both are the main culprit.

   2.  Excess Fat Around The Hips and Stomach

Carrying extra weight, especially in this area, is another main cause of the muffin top.

   3.  Lack of Muscle Tone

Even if you're not necessarily chubby around your hips and waist, a lack of tone can mean that the fleshy area at the backs of your hips appears flabby.

   4.  Genetics

Many people, particularly women, are genetically disposed to storing fat around the hips and stomach, meaning that it can be tricky to shift.

When it's broken down like this, it's easy to see that the muffin top can be tackled logically with its causes in mind.
